Wow- it’s been a while

June 16, 2010 at 4:31 am (Uncategorized)

Well.. It’s only bee what.. 5 months since I posted last?

What can I say… I’ve been busy? well, not that busy. I’ve mostly just been lazy.

I started a working at my new promotion this week and talking with my new coworkers made me remember why I was blogging.

I’ve read a few books I just need to get my thoughts about them written up and posted!

So here are my summer goals:

1. Write everyday… even if I don’t post something I need to at least write something down

2. Post AT LEAST twice a a month.. that really shouldn’t be too unreasonable.

3. Write some Sci-Fi/Fantasy book reviews for my coworkers blog.

hmm.. maybe I should set an alarm on my phone to remind me to write EVERYDAY

Wish me luck… and if you talk to me anytime in the future ask me about my blog :)

Goals for the week

February 8, 2010 at 5:10 am (Uncategorized)

1. get a library membership so I can get new material!

2. write at least 3 blogs!

3. write longer blogs!

4. go by the bookstore to see what’s new! (since I don’t have a job I can probably sit there all day and read an entire book or more if they’re children’s lit!)

5. join some sort of network to see how it works so when the time comes I’m ready to promote.

any other suggestions?

To promote or not to promote? that is the question

February 4, 2010 at 8:20 pm (Uncategorized)

So i’m a little annoyed with my last entry. I tried to put it up over two different days but wordpress was down or something.

Sigh. I got it up eventually.

I’ve also discovered the dashboard! It’s pretty exciting to see that people are actually reading my blog  :) Now I just need to find new ways of promoting it.

I’ve been told linkedin is a good place to start, but I wonder if I should wait until I get a few more reviews under my belt and I feel more comfortable busting them out.

I also need to get a membership at the local library! Most of my books are packed away at my Dad’s and since I still don’t have a job I can’t afford to buy new ones!

Good thing the library is FREE!

The dreaded first post

January 26, 2010 at 5:38 pm (Uncategorized)

So, I did it. I’ve given in to the new millennium and I’ve started a blog. I’ve been hesitant about starting one because, well, I’m a shy, self-conscious girl who cares way to much about what other people think about her. Even if you don’t know who I am.

I don’t even post on forums. I’ll type up something to post, but at the last minute I’ll change my mind. I mean what if I’ve misspelled something? What if I have a typo? What if I have bad grammar?!?! The HORROR.

So, I just wouldn’t do it. Period.

When I was younger I wouldn’t even talk in chat rooms. The only reason I began to was because of my sisters. We’d be sitting next to each other, all on different computers and we wouldn’t talk out loud, but through chat.

Now that I’m home from travelling the world (oh how I miss Taiwan! While I clearly stood out as being a foreigner and everyone stared, I still felt anonymous because I could say almost anything I wanted and most people wouldn’t have a clue what I was saying) and now currently jobless, I’ve decided it’s the perfect time to try and get my dream job: reading and talking about books for money.

So, step one down. I’ve set up a blog and put up my first post. I’ve joined the millions of people (including my mother: http://www.ohwowthischangeseverything.com/blog/) who have put their voice on the web.

And oh, look at that- the world hasn’t ended (though I may still die of embarrasment)
